Confidentiality is Key
We are committed to protecting the confidentiality of every individual’s laboratory results and other personal information, in compliance with all applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations.
Clinical Toxicology detects the adverse effects of drugs and toxic chemicals in biologic fluids by qualitative and quantitative measurements. This testing may be used to detect overdose or toxicity caused by single or multiple drugs. Clinicians also use toxicology tests to monitor treatments, evaluate side effects, or discover drugs that may interfere with prescribed treatments. EM1 Labs is dedicated to the accurate reporting and interpretation of toxicology tests.
Food and Drug Administration
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is a federal agency of the US Department of Health and Human Services. The FDA is responsible for protecting and promoting public health through the regulation and supervision of food safety, prescription and over-the-counter drugs (medications), vaccines, biopharmaceuticals, medical devices, electromagnetic radiation emitting devices (ERED) and more. The FDA was empowered by the US Congress to enforce the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act, which serves as the primary focus for the Agency. EM1 Labs uses only FDA-approved instruments and methods for toxicology testing.
Confirmations vs. Screening
Advanced drug confirmation procedures separate EM1 Labs from other drug screening laboratories. EM1 Labs utilizes state-of-the-art instruments and technology to ensure error-free results with the most competitive turnaround time in the industry. Our liquid chromatography/mass spectrometers (Sciex QTRAP LC/MS/MS System) are well known for accurate quantitation, speed, precision and sensitivity. These systems provide excellent dynamic range for detecting a wide variety of chemicals. This allows EM1 Labs to be an industry leader.
Importance of Monitoring
Toxicology testing can be used to monitor patients being treated for a variety of conditions including chronic pain. Drug testing detects patients who do not take their prescribed medications as well as those who over or under use medications. Testing helps guide physicians in prescribing medications for patients with a history of drug abuse or overdose. It can detect the presence of unreported or non-prescribed drugs.
Since the minimum volume of sample required for confirmatory testing is 500 uL, specimen rejection for inadequate volume is rare. The average rejection rate for inadequate sample volume (QNS, quantity not sufficient) is less than 1%.
One of the core strengths of EM1 Labs lies in its toxicologists. EM1 Labs employs toxicologists who are knowledgeable in pharmacology and drug metabolism as well as drug detection. EM1 Labs’ toxicologists are always available to answer specific questions.
